American-Danish Young Professionals hosts event on Brexit and its implications

On May 23rd, the American-Danish Young Professionals hosted an after hour networking event centered around Brexit and its implications at Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE). ADYP had a guest speaker in the name of Mr. Jacob Funk Kirkegaard who is a Senior Fellow at PIIE and does research on British politics and Brexit. Mr. Kirkegaard explained the different possible outcomes of the Brexit negotiations and its implications, specifically from an American perspective. It was clear that the outcome might become more dire than was initial thought.

Before joining the Institute, Mr. Kirkegaard worked with the Danish Ministry of Defense, the United Nations in Iraq, and in the private financial sector. He is a graduate of the Danish Army’s Special School of Intelligence and Linguistics with the rank of first lieutenant; the University of Aarhus in Aarhus, Denmark; the Columbia University in New York; and received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies.

After the presentation, ADYP had a networking session giving people the opportunity to socialize, exchange ideas, share common interests and grow professionally.

A special thanks to Peterson Institute for International Economics for letting American-Danish Young Professionals use their venue to further increase American-Danish relations.
