Greetings from the Ambassador

Greetings from the Ambassador

Dear Members of the American-Danish Business Council,

As of April 1, 2019, I can officially announce that I have assumed the position of Ambassador of Denmark to the United States. With this honor it is my privilege and pleasure to be selected as Chairman of American-Danish Business Council. In this new role, I wish to thank the previous Ambassador and my colleague, Lars Lose for his outstanding contribution in the Council’s significant growth, in number of members and in activities during his period. I look forward to continuing to advance the agenda of increasing trade and investments between the US and Denmark and to promote mutual cooperation and better working relationships between companies in our two countries.

As some of you may know, before becoming Ambassador here, I was Chief Operating Officer in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Secretary for Foreign Policy and earlier Ambassador to Spain.

It is truly an honor for me to be given the opportunity to represent Denmark in the United States. Denmark and the United States have enjoyed great diplomatic relations for centuries and this unique relationship has sustained economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic by creating new jobs and opportunities for engagement. I am a strong believer that trade is the pillar on which we can form the basis for further growth in our transatlantic relationship. Everyday Danes and Americans are doing business together, exchanging ideas and building relationships. All of this creates economic opportunity and that is what we strive for in the American-Danish Business Council.

Economic diplomacy is an increasingly important part of our agenda at the Embassy, and I am certain that ADBC will generate many new and exciting initiatives in the future. Examples of the Danish Government’s commitment to reinforcing our economic relations with the US are our recently established Consulate Generals in Houston, Texas and Palo Alto, California as well as a new Innovation Centre in Boston.

I look very much forward to working with ADBC to increase mutual economic prosperity and to expand and increase the visibility of American-Danish cooperation. I hope to meet all members of the American-Danish Business Council in the weeks and months to come.

Yours sincerely,
Lone Dencker Wisborg
Ambassador of Denmark to the United States
